Police Seize $320,000 Worth of Allegedly Stolen Lego in Adelaide Raid

Two people have been charged after police discovered about $320,000 worth of allegedly stolen Lego sets during a raid at a home in Adelaide’s inner north-west.

South Australia Police (SAPOL) reported that officers from the Western District executed a search warrant at a property in Dudley Park around 5:00 pm on Tuesday, March 31, 2026. Inside, they found a massive cache of boxed construction sets believed to have been systematically stolen from retail stores across the metropolitan area.

According to the official SAPOL news release, the volume of items was so substantial that it required 15 pallets and two horse floats usually reserved for the Mounted Police to transport the goods from the scene.

Charges and Court Appearance

A 34-year-old woman and a 42-year-old man found at the property were arrested and charged with theft. Both were granted bail and are scheduled to appear before the Port Adelaide Magistrates Court on May 12, 2026.

The investigation is part of an ongoing crackdown on organized retail theft in South Australia. Police allege that high-value items like these are often destined for resale on third-party online marketplaces, where stolen goods are frequently laundered.

“Operation Measure” and Repeat Offending

This seizure follows a similar major operation in 2025, where $250,000 worth of Lego was recovered from a Royal Park residence. Under Operation Measure, SA Police have been collaborating with major retailers to identify recidivist offenders.

Acting Assistant Commissioner John De Candia previously noted that this type of crime is “not victimless,” as it drives up costs for everyday consumers and often fuels broader criminal networks.
