Luxury Hermès Boutique Targeted in Early-Morning Ram Raid in Brisbane CBD

Queensland Police are investigating a brazen ram raid on a luxury fashion boutique in Brisbane’s central business district that left the store significantly damaged and high-value items stolen on Easter Monday, April 6, 2026.

Emergency services were called to the Hermès boutique on Edward Street shortly after 3:00 am following reports a vehicle had been deliberately driven into the shopfront.

According to The Guardian, a stolen Mercedes SUV was used to force entry into the luxury store, shattering the front glass and causing structural damage.

Offenders Fled in Multiple Vehicles

Police allege that after the impact, three offenders quickly loaded merchandise from the boutique into a second vehicle waiting nearby. The trio then jumped into a third vehicle to flee the scene, leaving the stolen Mercedes SUV behind.

Senior Sergeant Leonie Scott noted that the operation was executed with professional speed. While police were on the scene within minutes and came “very close to apprehending one of them,” the group managed to evade capture.

The abandoned Mercedes, which police believe was stolen from Coorparoo earlier this month, is currently undergoing forensic examination at the scene.

High-Value Items Stolen

The Edward Street boutique is a cornerstone of Brisbane’s luxury precinct, housing some of the world’s most expensive fashion items. While an exact inventory is still being taken, investigators expect the total value of the stolen good which include high-end handbags, jewelry, and accessories to be substantial.

Hermès is famous for its iconic Birkin and Kelly bags, some of which can retail for well over $100,000.

Investigation Continues

A crime scene remains in place at the busy CBD intersection while forensic officers collect evidence. The intersection of Edward and Elizabeth streets may experience minor delays throughout the morning as the damaged storefront is secured.

Police have urged the public to be vigilant for any high-end Hermès products appearing on resale platforms or social media marketplaces.

Anyone with information, CCTV, or dashcam footage from the CBD between 2:30 am and 3:30 am is asked to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
