Brisbane Mum’s Lego Collection Hits $500k: Titanic & Star Wars Rarities Lead Sale

A Brisbane mother’s treasured Lego collection has captured national attention after raising more than $500,000 at an online auction, with bidding still underway.

More than 2000 Lego sets, collected over four decades, were listed earlier this month in what auctioneers describe as one of the largest private collections ever offered for sale in Australia.

Rare and large-scale sets draw strong interest

The massive collection has sparked intense competition among collectors and enthusiasts, driving prices higher as the auction continues.

So successful has the sale been that additional items — including fully assembled models — have now been added to the listings.

Among the standout pieces attracting strong bids are detailed replicas of:

  • Manchester United’s Old Trafford stadium
  • The Colosseum
  • The Titanic
  • A classic Mini Cooper

Auction house Lloyds said the growing demand reflects the strong resale market for rare and discontinued Lego sets.

“With how successful these results are, there were some more pieces that are now being offered,” spokesperson Rachael McCann said.

Value expected to keep climbing

The auction remains open, with organisers expecting the final total to climb well beyond the half-million-dollar mark as collectors continue placing bids.

Industry watchers say large, well-preserved collections, especially those built over many years, can command significant prices due to rarity, nostalgia and the global popularity of Lego.

The Brisbane mother’s collection, assembled piece by piece over more than 40 years, is now being recognised as one of the most valuable private Lego hauls ever sold in the country.
