Australian Man Jamie Cusack Dies in Bali; Family Launches Fundraiser to Bring Him Home
An Australian man who died after being found unresponsive on a hotel balcony in Bali has been identified as Jamie Cusack, 30. Local authorities and his family are now working to piece together the events leading up to his tragic passing on Wednesday, April 8, 2026.
Cusack was discovered in distress on a second-floor balcony at a hotel in Seminyak at approximately 4:15 am.
According to local police reports, his partner found him on a daybed; he was still breathing and able to speak at the time but lost consciousness during transport to Siloam Hospital. He was tragically pronounced dead at 8:10 am.
Investigation into Cause of Death
The circumstances surrounding the 30-year-old’s death remain under investigation by Bali authorities. Police confirmed the couple had been out on Tuesday evening and returned to their room around 1:30 am.
Following a disagreement, Cusack reportedly chose to sleep on the balcony daybed.
“Officers are still conducting a thorough investigation into the cause of death,” local police stated. While there were no immediate signs of foul play, investigators are waiting for forensic results to determine if underlying health issues or other factors contributed to his sudden collapse.

Jamie Cusack, who lived on the Gold Coast, is being remembered as a “vibrant and warm” person. His partner, Jess Grigora, has launched an online fundraiser to manage the significant financial burden of repatriating his body to Australia and covering funeral costs.
In a heartbreaking tribute on the fundraising page, Grigora wrote:
Jamie meant so much to so many. He had a way of filling a room with humor and warmth. Our focus now is simply getting him home to his family so we can say our final goodbyes.
