Medik8 Sunscreens Recalled Nationwide Over SPF Protection Concerns

Several premium sunscreen products have been recalled across Australia after testing raised concerns that they may not provide the level of sun protection stated on their labels.

The Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) has confirmed a recall for Medik8 Physical Sunscreen SPF50+ in 60mL, Professional 60mL, and “Try Me” 15mL sizes.

The products were sold through specialized skin clinics and online retailers like Adore Beauty between August 2023 and March 2026.

Risk Linked to Reduced Sun Protection

While the formula itself is safe for use, the TGA warns that the actual SPF may be lower than the advertised 50+ rating. This poses a significant risk for those relying on the product for post-treatment care or long-term skin cancer prevention.

Affected Batch Codes and Expiry Dates:

  • A1798A & A1798B: Expiry August 2026
  • A2651, A2651A & A2651B: Expiry April 2028
  • 15mL Tube: Often sold in the “Medik8 Post Treatment Kit.”

Consumers Urged to Stop Using Products

Medik8 initiated the voluntary recall after independent testing suggested the product might not meet the high standards for SPF50+. As the formula has been discontinued, customers are encouraged to switch to an alternative protector immediately.

If you have an affected product, you can return it to your original point of purchase (clinic or online store) for a full refund. No receipt is strictly necessary for these specific batches.
